A couple of thoughts:

"We’re living under an openly fascistic government whose express goal is to wrench any remaining agency, sexual or otherwise, from anyone who is not a white man with an upsetting hairline."

While I'm not surprised that to see political and social brainrot go together, it always astounds me that people can say things like this with a straight face. Of all the places where the current administration is engaging in authoritarian behavior, people's bedroom activities are at the bottom of the list.

Meanwhile, as to the woman in the article on OnlyFans who said she was okay with the pornography but was upset by the messaging between her SO and the pornographers (because that is what these women are)--lady, either you're lying to avoid being thought of as a prude, or you really don't get what cheating means or how it works.

Glad we can count on you, Aaron, to tell us what new nonsense is coming down the mainstream pipeline.

Also, it's no surprise to see James K.A. Smith being the one to sound the alarm about the CRC's rightward shift (and its threat to 'resistance evangelicals' at Calvin). He's seemed to have slowly driven his faith into the progressive dumpster. I read him for many years, but it kept getting harder and harder to read. Now I just check in on his work to see what new liberal orthodoxy he's adopted. It's like a sad game.

I read part's of his work over the years but once I realized that he had crossed to the dark side I got rid of all his stuff. He's another tragedy of the postmodern evangelical era that really peaked in the early to mid 2000s. I was in that part of evangelicalism for 20 years and I grew completely disillusioned with it long before I finally extracted myself from it.

The op-ed by Professor Smith felt like an exact mirror version of what probably thousands of conservatives have written or thought in the last 20-30 years:

"Over the past several years, ______ faculty have had to learn a new language that includes words like _____ and ______ and _____."

"If, like me, you signed on to the Reformed confessions over 20 years ago, you thought you were signing up for one thing, only to learn, in 2022, that Synod had moved the goal posts."

"Synod’s decision in 2022 was no surprise. The writing was on the wall. The clergy of the denomination are increasingly trained at _________________ and bring those sensibilities to the CRC. The denomination’s ethos has changed considerably and drifted away... I often admire the CRC’s 1986 statement, Our World Belongs to God, and then think of how impossible it is to imagine today’s CRC creating something so powerful and prophetic. It has been jarring to see my intellectual heroes ... dismissed and derided by CRC pastors."

"So I mourn what the _______ has become; but I wasn’t surprised by Synod’s decision."

"Because if now, knowing what we already know, the _____ simply doubles-down on its “partnership” with (and subservience to) the ________, what are they going to do when Synod 2030 decides that the confessions “already” teach that ____________? What are they going to do when, at Synod 2033, the remaining pastors and elders of the CRC decide that ________________ are inconsistent with a “high view” of Scripture?"

Does anyone know if there have been any male versions of the “I’m fed up with my marriage and want to have a sexual adventure” narrative turned into a book or TV series? I can’t think of any.

Re: the OnlyFans addiction, what's crazy is that these men almost certainly are not interacting with the model. The model creates a series of videos and then hires a company to have people impersonate her and get men to pay see more videos. It is only one step or so removed from falling in love with a ChatGPT-programmed sex doll. This article breaks it down and shows how it differs from the older model of internet peep shows.

I believe this was part of Andrew Tate's camgirl scam - or at least so he claims.
