Don't omit or mischaracterize key fact

This week I’m traveling to multiple speaking events. I had written a nice 2,000 word post to go up on Tuesday before flying out, but then I accidentally deleted it! I had to pull the Joseph Holmes Weapons review forward to replace it. Today, I just have time to type in a shorter piece at the airport.

It’s important that we are scrupulous in our presentation of facts in public discourse. Too often, we think that getting the narrative right is the most important thing. Of course, narrative is very important. But when we omit or incorrectly characterize key facts, it undermines our credibility.

For example, I’ve noted before that the fact that women initiate the vast majority of divorces - around 70%, though the exact level varies by study - is one of the best attested statistics in social science. But I’ve never seen that fact mentioned in any conservative evangelical sermon or book on marriage.
