Re: drugs and communities

I think back to your talk with Chris Arnade about public quality of life. I’ve worked in a downtown environment for 25 years. Yes, there has been a massive change before and after 2020 with pot smells and acceptance of degenerate behavior. It has changed our office environment.

I’ll tell you one change at work. It’s something folks wouldn’t think about, but crossed my mind as a new father. Before 2020, it was common for employees or customers to bring newborns and their kids into the office. It would always bring smiles and lighten the mood. After 2020, it rarely occurs. I would be out of my mind to take my baby there.

The two scouting organizations are very different. A big difference is that BSA is scout-driven, to prepare boys to become men and lead other men, and has a large focus on the outdoors. Girl scouts is pretty much just doing whatever the moms want their daughters to do. As a result, the focuses and activities are quite different.

I'd be curious to see some research regarding the movement of drug users to drug-friendly cities and away from those that do not tolerate it.

From other articles I've seen about "marrying up" it seems that women with well paying jobs will marry men without college degrees but who also make good incomes (>100K). These guys are usually "high Proles", owners of profitable HVAC companies, roofing firms, auto repair shops, etc. Of course this tends to poach these men out of the working class marriage pool leaving those women with the less successful men.

"With occupations, once the share of women reaches a certain level, men sometimes exit them. The field then often suffers from a drop in pay and status (which some argue is because employers devalue women’s work)."

Leftists are going to have to pick one (or neither, but definitely not both): Are employers greedy SOBs who want to pay the least they can and make the most money possible? Or do they want to overpay men just because they are sexist SOBs? Both can't be true.

Supply and demand. When the supply of potential employees for a given career role increases with no proportional increase in demand the wages paid for that role will decrease. That's the main effect here.
