The timing of this is ironic given another on-camera incident with Senator Mitch McConnell yesterday. I believe some of these folks can’t give it up because they fear that they will have nothing to do.
One positive for me was to have older folks working with us part-time. Their attitudes and advice were a positive for many of us. These weren’t leadership positions, but in key positions that worked with everyone. A great example of this was the New York Yankees of the 1990’s. Manager Joe Torre brought Don Zimmer on his staff. Zimmer was key for the team for advice and counsel and the players really loved the guy.
I think the column linked below applies more to the last newsletter than it applies to this one, but i nevertheless explains a phenomenon that will affect the future as well. It was pretty eye-opening for me.
Good article, but "canceling" and "woke" are two different things. I realize it is hopeless to fight against the tide of imprecise usage of language, but it hinders communication.
In brief, "woke" is a term implying sensitivity to injustice. Are you woke to the injustice around us, etc. That leads to the purity spiral or proving that you spot more examples of injustice than the next person, and are therefore morally superior to them.
Canceling is a tactic that can be employed by anyone, even though leftists predominate in its use.
Well thanks for the critique, but I didn't write the column.
And I don't think there was anything imprecise here. As you pointed out, you can be cancelled for a number of reasons, including not being "woke." Since this column was about feminism and the "wokeness" that it caused, it made sense to includes examples of cancellation that were related to wokeness.
It's like talking about heart attacks and death. You can die for other reasons and not all heart attacks lead to death, but if your column is about heart attacks, then it is not unreasonable to use examples where it lead to death.
1."No person shall stand for election to any Federal office subsequent to his or her 75th birthday, but office holders having attained that age may continue in office until the end of their term.
2. No Federal judge may remain in office beyond his or her 75th birthday,
Look at the Mormon church, where the 101-yr old president died and was replaced by a 93-yr old. Longevity is the basis of succession there, but they are getting into 1980's USSR territory.

I am well aware that you didn't write the column. In keeping with the column, your defensiveness seems ... feminine.
It is entirely possible that you are correct, though my actual intention was sarcasm not defensiveness.
It seemed an odd criticism to make to someone who had not authored the column.
It wasn't a criticism of you. It was a comment on the column, posted here for anyone who reads the column.
Yes this true, but not optimal because the time horizon for reformation is going to extend much further the longer boomers remain in power.
My suggested constitutional amendment:
1."No person shall stand for election to any Federal office subsequent to his or her 75th birthday, but office holders having attained that age may continue in office until the end of their term.
2. No Federal judge may remain in office beyond his or her 75th birthday,
Seems reasonable.

Yes. They are the ultimate seniority system, so longer lives affect them bigtime.
